Darius Brubeck Quartet

  • This event has now passed

“A stunning player in the neo-bop vein, with an apparently effortless flow of coherent ideas, beautiful time and a highly developed harmonic sense.”

Jazz Guide

The Darius Brubeck Quartet celebrated a decade together in 2017. Darius, the eldest son of the late, great Dave Brubeck, is a noted jazz pianist, composer, educator and band-leader in his own right and appears here leading his brilliant quartet featuring long-running collaborator and peerless saxophonist Dave O’Higgins.

The Quartet performs a mixture of Dave Brubeck hits, South African jazz, original music and jazz standards, all delivered with panache and swing from one of the finest quartets in the business. Darius is interested in music from several traditions; the direct emotion of South African jazz, the improvisation and rhythm of Asian music and the lyricism and harmony of the European tradition.
