The bodhrán (pronounced bow-ran) or Irish frame drum has grown from its use in traditional Irish music to become a popular instrument used across many forms of Celtic, folk and contemporary roots music. This beginner’s level workshop introduces aspiring players to the bodhrán and will include basic techniques, traditional and contemporary rhythms and advice on models/ sticks/diameters etc.
You’ll will use the most common tune types (jigs/reels) to explore different styles and techniques of playing and how to build a good foundation for further playing.
Please bring a bodhran if you have one, or contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you need to borrow one (limited numbers available).
