Sundays 21 & 28 January, 4 & 25 February, 4 March 2018, 10am-12.30pm; Sunday 18 March, 4pm afternoon rehearsal and 7.30pm evening performance
Playing for dancing can stretch you as a musician, but can also be one of the most rewarding musical experiences. The Ceilidh Experience is a chance for anyone interested in traditional and folk music to play in a band and play at a ceilidh. During the sessions
you’ll learn tunes and come together as small ceilidh bands, getting ready to perform at a final event for dancers and folk fans of all ages.
You’ll be supported in the sessions by experienced professional tutors and ceilidh band performers, have the opportunity to practice with a ‘caller’ and perform on a professional stage and learn how to perform acoustically and with amplification. All instruments are
welcome, but acoustic ones especially so!
You should already be able to play tunes from memory, ideally at ’dance speed’ and be prepared to do some tune practice between sessions.
A few places still available for ‘tune’ players - on fiddles, whistles, flutes, squeezeboxes and other melody instruments
