Kate Garner's Vintage Songbook

Tickets on sale 10/06/26

Join Kate Garner, daughter of the legendary Chas Hodges of Chas & Dave at the piano, as she sings the wonderful old songs that have defined her life, with tales of growing up in a musical London family, to her own successful career as a singer and songwriter.

Kate’s childhood was filled with music - songs her dad taught her and songs his mum Daisy taught him. A great stride piano player, Nanna Daisy kept a songbook in which she would write all the songs that she played and this was passed on to Kate by her dad.

This inspired Kate to keep a songbook of her own, Kate Garner’s Vintage Songbook, an ever evolving treasure chest of old songs loved and learned since childhood. She is now delighted to be bringing it to the stage to share with you.

Kate Garner’s Vintage Songbook features a vast repertoire of both well known and forgotten gems, from folk songs such as Early One Morning, the parlour song with a story Beautiful Dreamer, and toe tapping gems from the 1920s and 30s that Kate first heard on the gramophone which her dad bought her at a flea market when she was 12! There’s plenty of singalong too, from Bring Me Sunshine to Roll Out The Barrel.

Hear Kate’s stories and memories of family parties around the piano and life on the road with Chas & Dave… from Margate to Melbourne! Its all in Kate Garner’s Vintage Songbook, the music show that tells a story and invites you to come along, singalong and bring along your own memories too.

Kate Garner has written and presented her own TV series called The Stories Behind The Songs which was nominated for a TV Choice Award. Kate was recently the guest of Jools Holland on his BBC radio show and played live on BBC Radio 2’s D-Day 80 Concert.
