Gabriele Baldocci: Faded Gardens
We all carry things we can't quite put into words. Faded Gardens is an hour to sit with them.
Gabriele Baldocci wrote this music to get through a difficult childhood and years of illness, almost as a kind of therapy. It grew into something larger than him, and audiences keep telling him it's healing to sit inside.
Live, it's solo piano built around memory and improvised in the moment, so no two nights are ever the same. Nothing is performed at you, but rather on you and with you. You're simply invited into the room, with your own memories, for a while.
Gabriele is an international concert pianist, a professor at Trinity Laban, and Faded Gardens is currently in Grammy consideration for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album. But this evening is less a recital than a quiet, shared space. Come and sit with it.
