In 1916 Yorkshire, the Ramsden Choral Society is depleted by World War 1 enlistments. Enter Dr. Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes), a demanding, controversial choirmaster. He recruits teenagers and a wounded soldier, uniting a grieving community through Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius. This powerful film, by Alan Bennett and Nicholas Hytner, explores art’s vital sanctuary amidst conflict, loss and social upheaval, proving that harmony is a human necessity.
