For anyone new to hand drumming or interested in finding out more about conga drumming or Latin-American rhythms.
We’ll look at basic techniques – including palm/finger movements and hand shapes for producing open tones, bass tones and slap, exercises for developing tone, independence and coordination.
Well look at some Brazillian and Cuban rhythms, with parts for 1, 2 & 3 drums and how the individual lines fit together with bell patterns and the ‘clave’ rhythm.
Participants will have plenty of ideas to continue practicing after the workshop as well as notes of what is covered on the day.
Ravin 'Raz' Jayasuriya is a professional percussionist and award winning tutor with over 20 years experience specialising in Cuban and Brazilian music. He runs workshops and courses for all levels of ability throughout the UK.
