The mandolin is a popular instrument used in a range of styles including country, bluegrass, traditional folk and Irish music. It is great as a melody or rhythm instrument and this workshop will introduce both styles of playing. It will look at basic technique, simple tunes, chord shapes and progressions, and playing as a group and is suitable for those who have some basic experience of stringed instruments (such as guitar, ukulele, banjo, bouzouki, violin) and who can play basic open chords and a few scales of tunes. An ability to read tablature is useful but not essential.
Please bring a mandolin if you have one or contact education@stables.org if you need to borrow one (limited numbers available).
