Fred’s House are delighted to be returning to one of their all-time favourite venues, The Stables! The last time they were on this stage, it was with a socially-distanced show in 2020 with an entire audience wearing masks.
Vix, Prue, Lachlan, Gafyn and Paul are a group of friends based in sunny Cambridge who make up the award-winning band. They have been together in some form or another for 13 years; survived relationship breakdowns within the group, emigration, line-up changes and a Global Pandemic, but they’re still here to tell the tale. Playing live is what the band thrive on and they are well known for their very lively and entertaining shows but that they also have those songs that bring a tear to the eye - "Fred's House is a very popular band who have built up a significant following, and they were quickly bringing the house down" Maverick Magazine - Live review from Midwinter Fest.
They’ve performed more gigs than they care to remember, including headline tours of the UK and toured China as part of the Nanjing International Music Festival, as well as playing some big UK festival stages such as Cambridge Folk Festival, Acoustic Festival of Britain and Bestival. Their last release, Walls and Ceilings (EP) gained much praise, including from BBC Radio 2’s Baylon Leonard who said, “They have a brand-new sound and one that I really love”.
Having just won the Break Out Award at the NMG Awards 2023, Fred’s House are working towards their fourth album with producer Jake Day of North Acre Recording Studio which will be out late 2024. It is quite a shift towards radio-friendly commercial pop in terms of style, whilst still showcasing their hooky song-writing and staple sound of summery folk-rock guitars, West Coast four-part harmonies, violin and a driving rhythm section. The band are delighted to be back and with ex-Fred’s House frontman, Griff Jameson in support with his duo Elizabeth and Jameson. So as well as songs from the new album, their might just be a little trip down memory lane too.
