MEGAN DIXON HOOD

Megan Dixon Hood is an independent artist taking inspiration from folklore, mythology, nature, and human beings. Exploring alternative genres, her music is written from deep, dark, enchanted woods, hinting at the fairytale world of Florence + the Machine and AURORA.

Together with her band, Megan creates forest pop soundscapes that gather you up and immerse you in cinematic storytelling, led by haunting vocals that caress you in their hands or cut you straight in half. This has been captured in the form of 3 EPs, including ‘Tales From The North,’ released in 2018, which also featured Manchester’s Untold Orchestra.

The beginning of 2020 saw Megan and her band headline their first UK tour, selling out venues in Manchester and Stoke, whilst past summers have been spent performing at an abundance of festivals such as 2000 Trees, Cornbury, Nozstock, Glass Butter Beach, and Sidmouth Fringe, to name a few.

On her journey, she has enticed the ears of independent tastemakers, becoming a regular feature on BBC Introducing Stoke (including Artist of the Week) and appearing on Extinction Rebellion’s Creative Hub. Her music was also synced on BBC One’s TV documentary ’Ambulance.’ In 2021, she was chosen to be a part of the BBC Introducing project, collaborating with other artists across the UK, which featured on BBC Radio 1, whilst also performing on SKY TV on Live From The Edge with Mark Radcliffe.

In late 2021, Megan returned to the live scene after the pandemic, playing a series of headline shows, including Manchester’s Deaf Institute, in support of the release of her single ’Third Lung.’ The single was followed by further releases, ‘Hanged Man’ and ‘Athena’ ahead of Megan’s debut album, which has been recorded through the summers of 2021 and 2022. The album is scheduled for release in early 2023, inviting listeners into a world of magic and mystery.

ÅLESUND

After a busy summer of gigs Ålesund jumped straight into the studio and ran with all the energy of playing live on stage and poured it into their next offering. Their sound is always defined by Alba's soaring and striking vocals, but this EP debuts a more raw and grungier side to the alt pop Bristol band. They are excited to be bringing this new set to the stage for 2023.

"Ålesund poured so much warmth and feeling into both the songs and their connection with the audience, their energy and engagement were almost tangible." The Everyday Magazine
