Hailed by Gilles Peterson as “one of his all-time favourite vocalists,” Mike Lindup is a cornerstone of Brit Funk and Jazz. As the founding member, vocalist, keyboard player, and composer of the legendary Level 42, Mike has shaped some of the most iconic hits in pop history, including ‘Lessons in Love’ and ‘Something About You.’ With six Top 10 hits and seven Top 10 albums to his name, his contributions to the music world are legendary.
Beyond his work with Level 42, Mike has solidified his reputation as a respected solo artist, with four studio albums showcasing his talents as a composer and performer. His collaborations with musical icons such as Eric Clapton, Dominic Miller, and Da Lata further cement his legacy as a world-class musician.
Following two major full-band performances at London’s Jazz Café and Union Chapel, Mike is now stepping into an exciting new chapter with the Mike Lindup Trio, a fresh live project that celebrates the timeless jazz trio format of piano, bass, and drums. Joining Mike are two extraordinary musicians: Yolanda Charles MBE on bass, renowned for her collaborations with Paul Weller, Robbie Williams, Mick Jagger, and many others, and John Sam on drums, whose exceptional rhythm playing brings an essential pulse to the trio's sound.
The trio’s debut UK live headline performance takes place at The Stables on 9th December 2025, offering fans a chance to experience Mike’s signature blend of jazz, funk, and soul in a raw and intimate form. Their recent appearance on Gilles Peterson’s Rhodes Trilogy programme provided a glimpse of the powerful chemistry and fresh energy that will define their live shows.
