Sunday Sessions: Sam Braysher: Jazz Meets Michel Legrand

Tickets on sale 17/06/26

Sam Braysher, “whose warm tone and consonant and inquisitive approach to harmony is attracting growing attention on the British jazz scene” (All About Jazz), is a London-based alto saxophonist who has received international critical acclaim for his three albums to date.

Returning to The Stables after a sell-out concert in 2025, he is joined again by a rising star of London’s thriving jazz scene: Annie Majin, fresh from her West End musical theatre debut, whose charming, powerful voice is inspired by Barbara Streisand, Blossom Dearie and the sounds of classic Broadway shows. Accompanying is a top London rhythm section, comprising rising star Hungarian pianist Matyas Gayer (Eddie Henderson, Jim Rotondi) and in-demand young bassist (and Milton Keynes native) Asaph Tal.

Following a string of sold out shows at the likes of Ronnie Scott’s and the London Jazz Festival, Sam’s new album explores the work of Michel Legrand, the beloved French composer who wrote beautifully haunting soundtracks for films including The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Young Girls of Rochefort, as well as some of the most enduring songs of the 20th Century.  Expect to hear inventive interpretations of classics such as You Must Believe In Spring and The Windmills of Your Mind in addition to hidden gems from the Legrand catalogue and music by adjacent American Broadway composers such as Rodgers & Hammerstein, Gershwin and Harold Arlen.

"I can’t think of another alto saxophonist with a sound quite like Sam Braysher’s” **** Dave Gelly, The Observer
