The Swing Cats

  • This event has now passed

The Swing Cats represent one of the most versatile and seductive vocal proposals that have appeared on the jazz scene, evoking the great jazz voices and composers of the 1930s and 40s, such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and even Chet Baker.

After five years playing together around the globe, The Swing Cats are pleased to present Used to be Duke. The band has dedicated their second album to one of the greatest composers of the Swing era: Duke Ellington. Delving into the composer's beautiful harmonies and melodies along with the distinctive touch of The Swing Cats, Used to be Duke was born from the desire to honour the life and work of Duke Ellington.

After their first self-titled album (“Saphie Wells & The Swing Cats”, 2016), after having participated in various festivals (Vijazz, Mas i Mas Festival, El Grec, Torreilles Jazz Festival (France), La Jazz Festival Costa Brava, Jazzing Festival, La Mercè, opening of the Tarragona Dixieland Festival, Platja d'Aro Jazz Festival...) and having played in renowned venues both nationally and internationally (Peru, Croatia, Russia, France... ), the  Barcelona quartet want to continue presenting their music in the purest Swing Cats style.
