A celebration of the words and music of Van Morrison – endorsed by Van Morrison himself – featuring the incredible musicians who have played thousands of concerts with Van. It will be a night of extraordinary live music.
Following its London Coliseum debut earlier this year, the Van Morrison Alumni Band is set to bring its unique concert to theatres this autumn, bringing to the stage the music and words of one of the most notable musicians of the 20th century, Sir Van Morrison.
Expect to hear hits from Van Morrison’s extensive archive of 44 studio albums, including ‘Brown Eyed Girl’, ‘Moondance’, ‘Days Like This’ and ‘Into the Mystic’.
The Van Morrison Alumni Band is a repertoire company unlike any other and features the musicians who have played thousands of concerts and recorded hundreds of songs with Van Morrison over a period of transition when Van Morrison was making some of his most successful and loved albums.
Curated and hosted by saxophonist, broadcaster and close friend of Van, Leo Green – who has played on seven albums by Van Morrison and appeared on stages with him all over the world – music lovers will be blown away by these incredible musicians.
Band leader Leo Green says: ‘This will be a real honour and a great joy for this group of musicians to come together for a tour to celebrate the words and music of Van Morrison – I can’t wait.’
The project has been endorsed by Van Morrison himself – Van comments, ‘These songs are meant to be sung and heard and I am really happy that Leo is carrying the torch.’
