Sunday Sessions: Paul Higgs Quartet presents Cult TV Jazz Themes

  • This event has now passed

Paul Higgs presents an evening of cult TV jazz themes, including Spider-Man, Star Trek, Pink Panther and Doctor Who. Some of the world’s best jazz composers were commissioned to write these memorable and much loved themes: Neal Hefti, Henry Mancini, Johnny Dankworth, Alexander Courage and Ron Grainer. Paul and his band will be playing these all-time cult classics, with some narrative background from Paul.

Paul was a Musical Director at the National Theatre and the RSC, and has performed with Sir Peter Maxwell Davis, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Johnny Dankworth, Lulu, Tony Hatch, John Williams, and Nancy Wilson. He has also performed in major concert venues around the world, such as the Royal Festival Hall, the Berlin Concert Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, Ronnie Scott’s and the Culford Room, Cadogan Hall, as well as The Stables.

Paul is renowned for his magical sound and exceptional skill. His great sensitivity, high energy and his own skill as a composer make him a joy to hear.

“Paul is the most versatile musician I've ever met. He seems to "get" music the way other people breathe.”
Matthew Scott, Head of Music, National Theatre

“Paul Higgs plays with great finesse.”
Richard Williams, jazz critic
