  • Adult/15+ Workshop
book a place

This practical workshop introduces the blues, looking at playing techniques such as turnarounds, shuffles and basic basslines, demystifying ‘V-IV-I’ blues chord sequences and introducing fundamental blues techniques such as finger picking, hammer-ons and pull-offs, using examples from classic Blues recordings. Players  need to be comfortable with the chords of E, A, D and B7 and be able to change confidently between them. It will also be helpful if you have some knowledge of the E minor and A minor ‘pentatonic’ scale . (You can see the scales here)

Participants will need to bring a 6 string acoustic guitar.

Joff Watkins is an accomplished blues player who combines performing and teaching, including leading the highly popular blues harmonica workshops here at The Stables ( The follow on workshop Blues Guitar 2 will be on Sat 2 Nov).

Tea & coffee is provided.
Participants on a full day workshop or course should bring a packed lunch and other snacks.
